My Little Chow Hound!

It is no secret that I like to eat. I like to go out to eat, I like to cook all different kinds of things at home. In general, my day revolves around meals. I wake up in the morning thinking about what I get to eat for lunch. No sooner than lunch is over I am planning dinner. Needless to say, feeding Aidan has been right up my ally. I make the majority of his babyfood. I have introduced him to lots of different fruits and veggies, we haven't started meat yet. Now that he is 7 months old (!!) I might think about trying some chicken or turkey, and tofu. He is a really good eater, though I don't have much to compare it to. He eats most everything I put in front of him. Sometimes he'll scrunch up his nose and make a funny face if the texture isn't smooth enough or if I've given him yellow squash too many times that week, but in general he slurps down whatever mixture I offer him.
Last night we decided to go out to dinner after we picked him up from daycare, talk about an adventure! My mom had a friend in town and they picked Aidan up at daycare and walked to the BBQ place up the street. Josh went home to walk the dog and then we all met at the restaurant. Ironically, 2 of Aidan's daycare buddies were at the same restaurant and we chatted for a bit. Aidan has an early bedtime (bath at 6:30, in bed by 7pm) so we were really pushing our luck with sitting down to eat at 6:15pm but we figured we'd give it a whirl.
Aidan did fairly well, he got sleepy at one point and whined a bit, but all in all he held it together. We gave him some mashed potatos and tried to keep him happy and entertained. Lucky for us, the restaurant was pretty noisy and there were LOTS of babies and children so we didn't stick out too bad. We got him home by 7:30 and he was fast asleep by 8pm. I'm not sure we'll make a regular habit of eating out on Friday nights, but every so often it can be fun.
I am not sure the mashed potatos were a good idea though....he has had potato but not milk or butter or any of the other good stuff that make mashed potatos yummy. Aidan woke up around 4am and I went in to check on him. He had thrown up all over himself and the crib :( I changed him and the crib, fed him a bottle (he was ravenous!) and he went back to sleep fairly easily. He seems fine this morning (he slept til 7:30!!). I guess I'll stick to food I make and/or jar food for a while longer. What a week of firsts: fever, vomit, and crawling...wow, what a busy boy.

That picture is the first one where Aidan actually looks a little like Josh. Don't know why, he just does.
